rapid antigen lateral flow test

Detection of COVID-19 & results within 15 minutes

What is a Rapid Antigen
Lateral Flow Test?

The Rapid Antigen Lateral Flow Test (or Rapid Test) is a device used to detect proteins on the surface of the COVID-19 virus.

For quick detection of COVID-19 for yourself or your organisation, a rapid antigen test can be a very cost-effective and efficient way of protecting yourself and those around you.

The Rapid Antigen Test is different from the PCR test. Although it is still necessary to collect a swab sample, it does not need analysing at a lab. Instead, the specimen is applied directly onto a small testing device (see below), meaning test results will be ready within 15-20 minutes.

A nurse led testing service

When taking your test, one of our nurses will be there to supervise and guide you through the process every step of the way.

Please be aware: This is a self-administered test.

To make sure we are following UK government guidelines and to keep our nurses safe, we ask that you administer your test. Your sample will need to be collected using a nasal swab. It is not a painful process, but it may feel slightly uncomfortable.

Please feel free to ask our nurses any questions or concerns that you may have. They are very experienced and will help ensure that you collect an adequate sample with as little discomfort as possible.

frequently asked questions

A Rapid Antigen test looks for the presence of specific proteins called antigens based on the surface of the virus from a nose or throat  swab sample.

It is not as sensitive as the PCR test and should be used as part of your COVID-19 testing strategy.

Unfortunately, we are not performing tests for those who have symptoms of COVID-19.

The Rapid Antigen Test is much quicker in delivering results than a PCR test.

Your results will be ready within 15-20 minutes after your sample has been applied to the device.

These tests have a sensitivity of 93.3% and specificity of 99.4%
