COVID-19 Testing Services for the Construction Industry

Building Resilience in the Construction Sector

Combining the strengths of a UK registered healthcare company with construction industry and IT experts, Wren Healthcare Construction combines it’s COVID-19 Antibody & PCR Testing Service with innovative cloud based IT solutions to help you identify, manage and mitigate risks of transmission across your site giving you peace of mind and allowing you to focus on running your sites.

COVID-19 Antibody Tests

We offer two options for COVID-19 Antibody testing:

Option A - COVID-19 Antibody Venous Blood Test (Laboratory Test)

A simple blood test taken by our registered nurses in the comfort of your own home and you will receive your test results via email within 24-48 hours. You will also have access to our team of nurses to discuss the results if you want to.

  • We’ve partnered with an UKAS registered laboratory to do our testing.
  • Results provided via email within 24 – 48 hours.
  • You’ll have access to our nurse helpline should you have further questions or concerns.
  • The antibody tests for all specific “IgG” “IgM” & “IgA” COVID-19 antibodies.
  • Results available to Public Health England.
  • One transparent price which includes the test, home visit and follow up advice.
  • 99.6% accurate.

Please note if you do not wish to have your results shared with Public Health England you should not have the test.

The Platelia SARS-CoV-2 Total Ab assay screens for total antinucleocapsid antibodies IgM, IgA and IgG against coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, the virus associated with COVID-19. This serological assay enables clinicians to identify individuals with an adaptive immune response to SARS-CoV-2, indicating recent or prior infection.

Technical data for COVID-19 antibodies:

  • Accuracy: 99.6%
  • Specificity: >99% while showing no cross-reactivity to non-SARS coronaviruses or other medical conditions.

Following SARS-CoV-2 infection, IgA and IgM are produced first, while IgG antibodies are detectable later. In a study by Guo et al., 2020, the median time to detect IgM and IgA antibodies was 5 days and to detect IgG was 14 days after symptom onset. The data suggests that IgA detection is associated with better sensitivity, by comparison to notably, IgM detection alone.

Option B - COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test (Finger Prick)

There is no perfect test for coronavirus antibodies and rapid tests have understandably received criticism which is why we are using a CE marked COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test which can only be performed by a fully trained healthcare professional following government guidelines. The tests are manufactured in a certified laboratory in Switzerland (9001:2015 & ISO 13485:2016).

  • The only method currently approved for antibody testing is for a clinician to take a blood sample.
  • The test requires a finger prick blood sample which is taken by a fully trained registered nurse.
  • The antibody test is testing for the specific “IgG” & “IgM” COVID-19 antibodies.
  • Results provided within 10 minutes.

COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test is a CE Certified immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies against COVID-19 in human whole blood, serum or plasma specimens. This test should only be performed and interpreted by fully trained, healthcare professional. An immunoglobulin test measures the level of certain immunoglobulins, or antibodies, in the blood. Antibodies are proteins made by the immune system to fight micro-organisms, such as bacteria, viruses and toxins.

Technical data for COVID-19 IgG antibodies:

  • Accuracy: 98.6%
  • Sensitivity: 100%
  • Specificity: 98%

IgM, which is mainly found circulating in the blood and lymph fluid, is the first antibody to be made by the body to fight a new infection (usually within the first 6 or 7 days). This could mean that your body is now essentially fighting the COVID-19 virus as you have had a rapid immune response.

IgA, is found in the linings of the respiratory tract and digestive system, as well as in saliva (spit), tears, and breast milk. Following SARS-CoV-2 infection, In a study by Guo et al., 2020, the median time to detect IgM and IgA antibodies was 5 days and to detect IgG was 14 days after symptom onset.

IgG is our most abundant type of antibody and it is found in all body fluids protecting the individual against bacterial and viral infections. This usually develops 21 days after exposure to COVID-19 and means that you have been previously exposed to COVID-19, with or possibly without symptoms.

COVID-19 antibodies have been detected in your blood – this suggests that you have been exposed to SARS-CoV-2 and have had an immune response. The advantage of this test result is that you have now identified that you have previously been exposed to COVID-19.

Please note: The link between the presence of antibodies and immunity is not proven. A positive test result for antibodies does not necessarily mean that you are immune to COVID-19. However, as we learn more about COVID-19 you will be in a better position to understand the implications of your test results.

An absence of antibodies means that it is likely that you have NOT had COVID-19. An absence of antibodies infers an absence of immune defence to further coronavirus infections.

COVID-19 PCR Tests

We can support with PCR testing to keep your workforce safe. A PCR test looks for the presence of genetic material from the COVID-19 virus within a swab or saliva sample to tell you if you have an active infection.

PCR tests are being used to rule out COVID-19 infection before travel or resuming other activities.

The COVID-19 PCR test requires a throat swab sample to be collected by our registered nurse and the sample is sent back to our UKAS registered laboratory to be analysed.

We can provide results within 24 – 72 hours depending on your requirements. This includes us providing a certificates for travel.

COVID-19 PCR Swab Test

A PCR test looks for the presence of genetic material from the COVID-19 virus within a swab or saliva sample. These tests are commonly referred to as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests. Antigen tests look for parts of the virus.

The COVID-19 PCR test requires a throat swab sample to be collected by our registered nurse and sent back to our UKAS registered laboratory for testing.

PCR & throat swabs are being used to rule out COVID-19 infection before travel or resuming other activities. We can issue certificates of fitness for travel abroad tests in up to within 24 – 72 hours.

If your COVID-19 PCR test is positive our nurses will advise through the next steps. The employee will need to isolate as well as anyone who they may have come into close contact with.

If you are using our social distancing watches we can help trace those in your organisation who have come into contact with an infected person through our own track and trace system.

For further guidance please visit NHS website here

A negative PCR test means that you were not infected with COVID-19 when you took the test. If you have no symptoms, you can continue as normal. However, if you have symptoms, follow NHS guidance.

PCR tests are performed by a fully trained, healthcare professional. It involves analysing a sample collected from deep inside the nose or the back of the throat by a swab or the sample might be saliva or other fluid. The test can take from less than an hour to several days to get a result.

Antibody testing looks for the presence of antibodies (produced by people with the virus to counteract the virus) against COVID-19 virus. The tests involves taking a finger prick blood sample which is then analysed for the presence of antibodies associated with COVID-19. (These tests should only be performed and interpreted by fully trained, healthcare professional).

Further advice on PCR & Antibody testing can be found on the government website here

Following any antibody test you must still follow government advice on social distancing, hand-washing and isolation.

Having antibodies simply makes it more likely that you will not have a second infection or, failing that, that a second infection would be milder compared with a similar person who has no such antibodies. However, it is still not proven that you immune from COVID-19 once you have developed the antibodies.

We can arrange for your business to be tested within 1-2 weeks.
